Troubleshooting

Common issues and how to fix them.

Bump channel is stale

Symptom: The dashboard shows a warning that your bump channel is no longer accessible.

Cause: BumpIt! lost access to the channel — it was deleted, renamed, or the bot's channel permissions were changed.

Fix: Go to Setup and select a new bump channel (or re-select the same one after restoring permissions). Click Save Changes.

Required permissions in the bump channel: View Channel, Send Messages, Embed Links, Read Message History.

Symptom: The dashboard shows an error that your invite link has expired and bumps are paused.

Cause: Discord invite links can expire based on their max-uses or expiry settings. BumpIt! detected the link is no longer valid.

Fix: Create a new invite in Discord (Server Settings → Invites) with no expiry and no use limit. Paste it into Setup → Invite Link and save.

Not receiving ads in my invite channel

Symptom: The bot is set up but no bump ads are appearing.

Checklist:

  1. Confirm your invite channel is set in Setup and saved
  2. Check BumpIt! has View Channel, Send Messages, and Embed Links in that channel
  3. Check your Ad Filters — if filters are very restrictive, few servers will match
  4. If NSFW ads are off, only non-NSFW servers will show
  5. Bump activity is network-dependent — if the network is quiet, fewer ads arrive

My cooldown is longer than expected

Symptom: The cooldown timer doesn't match what's documented.

How it works:

  • Base cooldown: 60 minutes
  • Premium server: −30 min
  • Vote bonus (12h window): −10 min

The scheduler always runs on a fixed 2-hour interval regardless of these reductions.

See the cooldown calculator for your exact effective cooldown.

The scheduler isn't bumping automatically

Symptom: Auto-bump Scheduler is enabled but bumps aren't firing.

Checklist:

  1. Confirm Premium is active on the server — the scheduler pauses if Premium expires
  2. Check that the bump channel is still accessible (see stale channel above)
  3. If Peak Hours is enabled, verify the current server time is within your configured window
  4. Manual bumps reset the scheduler timer — a recent manual bump delays the next auto-bump

Commands aren't working / bot isn't responding

Symptom: Slash commands show an error or the bot doesn't reply.

Checklist:

  1. Make sure you have Manage Server permission (or are the server owner)
  2. Try running the command in a different channel where BumpIt! has access
  3. Check BumpIt! status for any ongoing incidents
  4. If the bot appears offline, it may be restarting — wait a few minutes and try again
